Directs all operational aspects of Outpatient Infusion, Cancer Program, Radiation Oncology and closely aligns with the Clinical Practice. This includes oversight of strategic planning, ensuring high quality care, optimizing service excellence and executing strategic priorities.

Collaborates with the Chief Operating Officer to develop and convey vision and strategy for growth of cancer services. Responsible for overseeing all aspects of clinical operations as well as ensuring the professional development of all staff.

Inherent in this role is the necessity for strong business acumen and an entrepreneurial spirit that engenders trusts, attracts talent and drives innovation.

The role combines clinical process knowledge with technical and analytical expertise to empower decision makers in to grow, improve and streamline operational processes and clinical effectiveness.

The role collaborates with key stakeholders and interdisciplinary teams to create a learning environment that supports innovation, enlightened thinking and the ability to execute results.

Oversees diverse array of administrative functions, including special projects, day-to-day operations, and implementation of key strategic operational imperatives.

Serves as business advisor to PMPH senior leadership regarding Cancer Services.


    • Develops strategic goals and business plans for delivering optimal cancer care operations across the health system as well as supports the growth and development of the cancer program.
    • Drives, collaborates and develops an approach to marketing cancer services with the marketing department.
    • Develops, monitors, and recommends annual operating budget to include short- and long-term capital expenditures. score: N/A
    • Coordinates departmental functions and activities to achieve objectives and maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements for the entire cancer program, including, but not limited to NAPBC, CoC and ACR.
    • Supports the achievement of the short- and long-term goals that drive the success of the Cancer Service Line in critical areas, such as planning for staffing, operational processes for the Cancer Center, designing systems, processes, protocols, and monitoring mechanisms to ensure ongoing and consistent integrated care.
    • Creates and builds a collaborative/team environment across the entire cancer care continuum that supports top decile in customer/patient satisfaction as well as staff satisfaction goals through monitoring, developing, and implementation of measurement systems for service standards.
    • Establishes and maintains effective communication and collaborative relationships with other disciplines across PMPH and the Abramson Cancer Center to establish and implements comprehensive cancer program.
    • Works in close partnership with the Medical Director of the Cancer Center and with the administrators’/physician leaders of the various clinical departments (medicine, surgery, pathology, radiology, radiation oncology, etc.) to facilitate and execute decisions across the entire cancer service line.
    • Drives and helps develop activities to promote cancer services in the community with the Director of Community Outreach and Education · 
    • Serves as primary administrative liaison to the University of Pennsylvania Health System, specifically the Abramson Cancer Center and continuously looks for ways to advance and strengthen the affiliation to advance clinical care.
    • Ensures safety standards are met; empowers and promotes patient, staff and community education; facilitates acquisition of equipment and supplies needed to provide services.
    • Provides leadership and serves as the administrative liaison to the American College of Surgeons for Commission on Cancer and National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. Ensures compliance with standards and maintenance of accreditation standards.
    • Ensures appropriate staff orientation, education and licensure to perform required functions. Defines required qualifications and competence for staff who provide care, treatment and services.
    • Oversees performance improvement activities. Plans and manages processes to measure, assess and improve clinical and support activities. Monitors compliance with national oncology quality improvement indicators and coordinates performance improvement activities for non-compliant areas.
    • Maintains professional growth and development of self and cancer services management and staff through professional affiliations and educational activities. Serves as a professional role model and mentor in leadership skill development, problem solving, intentional innovation, coaching guidance, risk taking behavior, and interpersonal skills to motivate, attract, recruit, and retain cancer center staff.
    • Supports clinical research and its integration into nursing and the delivery of healthcare services.

Education or Equivalent Experience: 


Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care or Business field - required

Master’s Degree - preferred 


Five years direct supervision of staff

Five years of operations management experience

This position has direct reports and is expected to function in a leadership capacity with a high degree of autonomy and strong decision making skills
