  • The Senior Director of Provider Recruitment & Contracting leads all physician and advanced practice provider (APP) recruitment activities and strategic initiatives for Penn specialty Practices, Penn Primary Care, and Princeton Medicine. In collaboration with PMMG entity Leadership, the Senior Director is responsible for the development and oversight of the processes and procedures surrounding provider contracting, provider compensation, and strategic provider recruitment planning for the PMMG practices. The Senior Director partners with the SOM Department Chairs, Physician Alignment Executives, Hospital Leadership, and Business Development on recruitment initiatives when appropriate. The Senior Director manages the activities of the provider recruitment and onboarding teams and directs all physician compensation recommendations; including sourcing, screening and hiring new providers, employment contracting and required documentation, credentialing, enrollment, and required activity and documentation for Penn Medicine employment. This individual is also responsible for creating competitive compensation arrangements for providers, working within appropriate guidelines and approved structure, in partnership with Finance, Physician Executives, and senior leadership.


  • Strategic Leadership: Develops and directs the overall strategic plan for the PMMG provider recruitment team, keeps abreast of industry trends and challenges and adjusts plans accordingly.
  • Provider Workforce Planning: Partners with PMMG Leadership, the entities, the service lines, and the SOM Chairs to develop a strategic workforce plan for employed physician and APP recruitment within PMMG. Forecasts future staffing needs and develops recruitment strategies to achieve goals.
  • Provider Recruitment: Manages a team of physician and APP recruiters that hire primary care and specialty care attending physicians and advanced practice providers for Penn Medicine Medical Group. These activities include candidate sourcing, screening, and relationship management in partnership with practice and PMMG leadership.
  • Physician and APP Onboarding/Offboarding: Manages a team of administrative staff that are responsible for onboarding PMMG physician new hires. These activities include physician and APP credentialing and mapping, candidate relationship management, and coordination with on-site practice leadership to ensure a smooth entry of the new provider hire into the practice. Oversees offboarding activities for exiting providers - manages team that ensures all offboarding tasks are completed by responsible party(ies); communications to departing provider and practice leadership, eStar schedules, MedView and PfP accounts, etc.
  • Provider Contracting: Responsible for all PMMG provider employment contracting in collaboration with the Penn Office of General Counsel. Negotiates contract terms with potential new physician and APP recruits. Manages tracking, compliance, and maintenance of all provider contracts.
  • Provider Compensation: Manages the development of all provider compensation offers, partnering with PMMG Finance to ensure that all offers are supported by a proforma or budget approval. Leads efforts, in partnership with Corporate Compensation and PMMG Finance, to maintain a current understanding of provider compensation and incentives at the local, regional, and national level and their impact to PMMG. Develops strategies to create and maintain market competitiveness for provider total compensation.
  • Human Resources: Directly manages a team of physician recruiters and administrative staff, including orientation/training, ongoing feedback/development, timecard management, and performance management, when necessary.


    Education or Equivalent Experience:

    • Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
    • 10+ years Professional work experience with at least five years’ in physician or executive recruiting, with a record of accomplishment as a leader 3+ years Management experience with 1 or more direct reports
    • Master of Arts or Science
    • Advanced degree could be considered in lieu of experience.
