The Perioperative Assistant provides supportive care to patients. The candidate selected for Hospital of University of Pennsylvania  works under direction and supervision of the professional nurse and clinical coordinator. Will transport patients and their items, equipment, specimens and supplies, to and from PACU, SPU and OR. Cleans, disinfects, and sets up Operating Rooms prior to surgery. This position also requires getting the proper equipment for procedures. Maintains the environmental area of the locker rooms, lounge, coordinator's office perimeter of OR and PACU.

The Perioperative Services Department at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) includes the operating room, the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), the ambulatory procedure unit (APU), the SurgiCentre at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine and the endoscopy suite. 

With 12 specialty areas, the operating room performs a variety of surgical procedures including cardiac, vascular, transplant, trauma and neurosurgery in a state-of-the-art environment. The highly skilled nurses in the ambulatory procedure unit and SurgiCentre provide a superior level of care to those who have undergone outpatient surgical procedures.


The qualified candidate must have High School Diploma or equivalent. Required to read, write and speak English. Previous perioperative experience preferred.
