The Department of Quality and Performance Improvement at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center has a full-time opportunity available for a Senior Improvement Advisor.
Position Description:
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
Planning, implementing and evaluating the quality, patient safety, and operational performance program of service lines and departments
Serving as a change-agent for entity-wide service lines and departments, and supporting teams connected to those areas
Providing partners with the most current PI methods and tools, including project management support
Mentoring and coaching the local team Improvement Advisors, providing support and experience for local process improvement when needed
This work includes, but is not limited to, facilitation of PI projects and kaizen events; management and surveillance of data for PI opportunities; messaging trends in the data to leadership, departments and staff; training and mentorship to entry-level Improvement Advisors; education of front line staff in the latest PI methods; and responding to serious safety events. This position is accountable for facilitating improvement in the areas of patient satisfaction, clinical quality, and patient safety, operations, and continuous survey readiness.

Minimum Requirements:

Please apply if you possess these qualifications:
Bachelors Degree required
3+ years experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating performance improvement plans required, preferably in healthcare
Master's Degree in medicine, nursing, patient safety and quality, health policy, business, or other healthcare related fields preferred
Process Improvement Experience: Six Sigma Black belt/Lean certification, /IHI Improvement Advisor training [e.g. Six Sigma PDSA (Plan Do Check Act) or PDCA (Plan Do Study Act)] required
OR equivalent experience (e.g. leading or facilitating projects as SME in improvement methodology) required
Clinical Experience: Candidates will be considered if there is commensurate work experience in healthcare performance improvement (e.g. healthcare quality, patient safety, or consulting within organizations that provide clinical treatment or preventative care services).
Quality & Safety Standards in Healthcare: Knowledge of national standards and outcomes for quality, safety and healthcare such as CMS Core Measures & Value Based Purchasing, AHRQ PSI’s, Leapfrog, US News and World Report rankings is preferred; experience preferred, but classroom learning or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), etc. accepted. Root cause analysis experience is desired.
If applicant holds a medical license, (e.g. RN) proof of licensure is required
Lean Silver or Gold certification, CPPS, PMP, SSGB and/or SSBB preferred
Initiative, judgment, creativity and leadership abilities required
Change management skills and the ability to network and influence required
Consultative, team building, and group facilitative skills required
Teaching skills and curriculum development skills required
Strategic/hoshin planning skills required
Project management and organizational skills required
Accurate, thorough data collection and analysis required
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing required
Ability to understand, use, and teach principles of continuous quality improvement while working with varying levels of professional, clinical and ancillary staff required
Ability to work both under supervision and when appropriate, take initiative to make independent action required
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Access, Word, PowerPoint, Project) required
Proficiency with statistical software packages, like Minitab, QI Macros, etc required
Proficiency with flowchart/workflow presentation software, such as Visio, QI Macros, or similar required
Familiarity with business process metric/enterprise architecture/process simulation software required
