Summary:

Under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist, performs high quality therapeutic radiation treatments and radiation planning procedures in a safe and timely manner, as ordered by physicians. Must follow physician’s orders precisely, maintaining a high degree of accuracy in positioning, planning and exposure and conforming to regulations concerning the use of radiation to protect themselves, their patients, and their co-workers from unnecessary exposure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Performs radiation treatment according to the prescribed treatment plan under the medical supervision of the Radiation Oncologist

· Ensures that charts, records and other pertinent documents are maintained according to JCAHO and NRC standards

· Maintains equipment

· Follows quality assurance (QA) protocols

·Takes on-call on a rotation basis with other therapists

Education Training and Experience

Satisfactorily completed formal training in an AMA approved school of radiation therapy technology.

 Licensure/Certification Required

· A current registry by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).

· Professional growth and development to keep current with radiation therapy developments.

    ·Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) card.
