The Lung Transplant program at Penn is one of the largest programs in the country. The program averages 100 transplants per year. The lung transplant program is known to take on many patient cases that are medically and surgically complex. We encourage our nurses to attend conferences and to also take the transplant certification.
The Transplant Coordinator is a professional nurse with expertise in transplant medicine who endeavors to provide and maximize the quality of care to patients with end stage organ failure who are transferred to the Transplant Program. In this role, you will provide direction in the management of patients throughout all phases of the transplant process, perform a systematic assessment, evaluation, and develop a plan of care for the patient and their significant others. You will also serve as an integral member of the transplant team in meeting the needs of the transplant patient and ensuring continuity of care throughout the transplant process.
The qualified candidate must possess current licensure as an RN in the Commonwealth of PA and 4 years of professional nursing experience. 2 years of experience in the transplant specialty is preferred.
The RN in this role will work part time. The work hours would be between 8am-530pm. This may vary if working in the clinic. There is no call. Your time will be split between the office in Ground Gates and the Lung Center on 1 West in PCAM. You would be part of an intricate team working alongside other coordinators, nurse practitioners and physicians.
