Summary:
The position is responsible for all aspects of the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Revenue Cycle. The scope includes providing appropriate management of the clinical patient charges of 210M+, collections of 73M for 112 physicians and 125 mid-level providers (CRNA’s), totaling 237 billing providers with a staff of 15 employees.
Responsibilities:
Ensures the integrity of the change capture, precertification, professional coding, data entry, rejections, edits, accounts receivable management, EPIC Optime and Anesthesia Information Management System, provider enrollment , billing compliance for Federal, State and third-party carrier regulations, development and application of FDA clinical trial billing procedures, creation and development of coding charge forms and templates for each division, preparation of physician chart audits and maximization of all the reimbursement activities to support the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care and UPHS business objectives.
Identifies billing opportunities and implements strategic planning for all billing services. The incumbent provides advice and counsel to the COO, Division Chiefs, Physicians, Department Leadership Team, the Professional Fee Abstraction Department, the Professional Billing Office, UPHS committees and organizations and others as directed by COO. As a member of the Leadership team, the incumbent will be able to be dedicated to the timely completion of all tasks and be a self-motivated individual.
Membership on the following committees and organizations is standard: UPHS Revenue Cycle Management, Billing Oversight Committee.
Required Skills:
Experience with the following: EPIC APM Billing System and Hospital Systems, Excel, Calculator, FAX machine, copy machine, and personal computer.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
Bachelors Degree Required
Master in Finance or Healthcare Administration Preferred
Coding Certification Preferred
Minimum of 10 years healthcare administration preferred
Experience in accounts receivable, front end billing operations, application of managed care contracts, EPIC, state and federal regulatory compliance, coding and reimbursement Required.
Experience in anesthesia billing strongly preferred.
Certification as a registered coder preferred.
