Department: Security

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Summary:

  •  JOB SUMMARY The Assistant Director of Security will be responsible for 24/7 operational oversight providing leadership and expertise to the management of vulnerabilities and incident tracking and response. Development of well-defined policies and procedures related to security operations will be a core responsibility of this position, including change control, monitoring, response, and reporting procedures. This position will develop and generate management reporting and detailed metrics to support and demonstrate continuous improvement of incident detection, response, and recovery.

Responsibilities:

• Assists the Director Security with daily administrative functions. Acts as the spokesperson for the department in the absence of the Director. • Conducts and coordinates routine and sensitive security investigations alone, with Risk Management, Legal Affairs, department heads, Penn Police and local, state and/or federal law enforcement agencies. • Supervises Sergeants; assists in hiring, training, promotion and discipline of all departmental employees as well as ensures that newly assigned Officers are thoroughly trained in accordance with departmental and regulatory standards. Recommends, develops, prepares and arranges ongoing training programs and maintains in-service records for all department employees. • Schedules Security Officers for duty, in coordination with Sergeants; monitors the master schedule as required, anticipating and resolving any schedule problems and extraordinary events occurring in and affecting the institution. • Prepares, provides and disseminates monthly statistical data on security incidents with appropriate printouts and graphs. • Collects, secures and manages the collection and disposal of confiscated weapons. Monitors Patient Valuables and Lost and Found files. • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

Credentials:

Education or Equivalent Experience:

 High School Diploma Required

And

10+ years Industry experience in security with progressive responsible management experience

And 

5+ years Management experience in security, law enforcement and/or the military

 And

3+ years Working with senior executive management in an academic medical environment

 Or

Bachelor's Degree

Criminal Justice, Public Safety, or Business Management

And

5+ years Industry experience in security with progressive responsible management experience

 And

3+ years Working with senior executive management in an academic medical environment

 Or

 Master's Degree

Criminal Justice, Public Safety or Business Management

And 

3+ years Industry experience in security with progressive responsible management experience

And

3+ years Working with senior executive management in an academic medical environment
