General Summary Statement
This is a professional level position that has the responsibility of oversight of the hospital point-of-care testing program. The candidate will coordinate the point of care testing operation at CCH and assist nursing and other users in point of care solutions. Other responsibilities include, POC quality assurance, maintenance of necessary inventory, implementation of new POC technologies, and interaction as the primary contact with vendors. Administrative duties include maintaining a professional workspace, and execution of reports and other data mining tasks. This position also has principle responsibility of all POC information technology systems, including trouble shooting, and will keep these systems in operational order.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Introduces self when interacting with patients, families, visitors or other employees
Demonstrates respect for patient, visitor and employee privacy and confidentiality.
Communicates clearly, directly and in a professional manner. Provides information/facts
accurately, completely and in a timely manner. Appropriate telephone etiquette demonstrated
2. Review QC data monthly. Ensure that program is in compliance with applicable regulations.
Assure maximum up-time for all POC devices and systems. Trouble shoots all point of care
devices and systems
3. Interact with care givers in matters of point of care testing.
4. Investigate and implement new point of care technologies as they become available.
Maintain point of care computerized database and interfaces.
Maintain all POC accreditation and related documentation
Develop new policies and procedures as necessary
Assure that all necessary proficiency testing is performed and documented
Prepare the POC Program for inspection by various accrediting agencies
Develop training and competency material for users
5. Accepts constructive feedback about performance or behaviors and shows evidence of change.

consultation.
7. Demonstrates safe practices in the performance of assigned job duties.
Reports any unsafe practices or conditions to appropriate responsible parties.
8. Research problems with instruments and assist in resolutions.

Education Training and Experience
BS degree with MT (ASCP) certification preferred. 3+ years’ experience preferred. Supervisory experience helpful. Experience in point-of-care testing is required.
Licensure/Certification
MT(ASCP) or eligible
