General Summary Statement
Responsible for directing the operations and personnel functions of the purchasing, inventory management, shipping, receiving, mailroom, and printing services. Ensure cost efficient and cost effective acquisition, utilization, distribution and maintenance of equipment and supplies used throughout the hospital.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Accountable for all procurement activities including all Bid, RFP and service contract negotiation, management and capital planning, budgeting and purchasing for routine supplies and equipment as well as special projects involving renovation and new construction.
Aggressively utilize group purchasing alliances with other like facilities as well as participate in State of Pennsylvania purchasing contracts to reduce overall supply, equipment, renovation and new construction costs.
Play a key role in the annual operating and capital budget processes as well as manage the monthly capital acquisition and reporting processes
Inventory management responsibilities include defining minimum and maximum stocking levels in addition to lead times for storeroom supplies to ensure adequate supply flow.
Ensure maximum resource utilization in managing materials between suppliers, inventory locations, and internal customers.
Develop short-term options for product allocation during times of limited supply.
Optimize inventory and payment options for greatest financial impact.
· Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field
· Minimum of eight years materials management leadership experience in a similar sized facility
· Working knowledge of materials management computer system (Lawson preferred), and Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook).
