- Leads the operations and strategy for the Volunteer Services Department to ensure an adequate number of competent volunteers to support the needs across the Penn Medicine Princeton Health system. Works collaboratively with clinical, administrative and philanthropic stakeholders to develop, assess, monitor, implement and improve services related to volunteers and select student groups (service-learning for individuals with disabilities and un-paid interns). This position is also responsible for the oversight of gift in-kind donations from community groups and volunteers.
- Evaluates for and develops volunteer assignments based on organizational goals and requests from directors/managers. This includes writing proposals, developing position (job) descriptions, recruitment and consulting directors/managers with program management. Provides oversight for on-boarding requirements for prospect volunteers and select student groups (service-learning programs for individuals with disabilities and unpaid interns). This includes, but is not limited to, interview, background and medical screenings, placement, orientation, and initial/on-going training. Provides consultative services to department managers/directors regarding volunteer and select student group engagement, performance management and scheduling. Ensures performance management issues are handled and documented appropriately. Coordinates with department managers/directors and other professional staff (Human Resources, Legal, Quality, etc) to ensure all services and programs provided by volunteers and work-study students are in compliance with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements (Joint Commission, HIPAA, Corporate Compliance, etc.) Ensures efficient and effective operations of office and programs. This includes, but is not limited to, developing policies and procedures and serving as administrator of designated volunteer management database. Keeps record of volunteer and select student group contributions and impact and reports the same to internal and external stakeholders. Oversees process for gifts in-kind produced/created by community groups and volunteers. This includes, but is not limited to, tracking gifts and associated volunteer time and distributing to departments/units throughout the health system. Works with internal and external sources and stakeholders to promote and advance volunteerism and service learning. Conducts on-going quality assurance and performance improvement for all services and programs provided by volunteers and select student groups. Serves on and/or chairs inter-disciplinary committees to understand how advise on how volunteers and select student groups can improve processes and/or enhance the patient/family experience. Prepares and monitors the budget, including operating and donor supported funds.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
BA Degree required
At least 3 years of experience managing/supervising volunteers and/or service learning programs
