Summary:

  • Scheduling Coordinator position is responsible for the scheduling and coordination of procedures in areas including, but not limited to, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine. The position includes scheduling cases/tests, obtaining insurance authorizations and referrals, answering and triaging telephone calls, collecting and communicating patient demographic/insurance information to the appropriate individuals. The position also includes clerical responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately schedule/coordinate procedures and document needed information in the appropriate systems. Scheduling includes, but is not limited to, collecting correct patient information (demographics, insurance) and appropriate case data, and moving/canceling visit based on physician and/or patient availability.
  • Provide timely responses to patient messages and document follow-up on insurance issues in the medical record.
  • Update practice teams and procedure/testing departments on changes in provider availability.
  • Chart preparation including but not limited to, pulling appropriate case/chart information, reviewing chart data, running reports, retrieving appropriate data from ancillary departments and/or physician offices.
  • Answering/coordinating phone calls and documenting patient and insurance company contact.
  • Assist patients, physicians, department staff and other hospital staff with questions or problems, as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with off-site practices to ensure that procedures and tests are scheduled appropriately and authorizations/referrals are obtained.
  • Communicate procedure and test preparation to patients according to physician orders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • High School Graduate/GED/Equivalent: - Required Work Exp.: 0-1 years - Required Work Exp.: 2-4 years - Preferred
  • Other
  • Vocational / Technical School / Diploma Program: - Preferred
