Access Analytics Manager

Summary:

  • The Access Analytics Manager provides analytics oversight and expertise to the corporate access team by the development of analysis and/or reporting needed for strategic, financial, and operational decision making and plans. The role is a strategic thought partner and technical advisor for the department and enterprise-wide access data needs and decision making.
  • The role will oversee and lead the design, build and delivery of effective data analysis and business intelligence solutions. Required is a full understanding of the health system's multiple reporting tools and platforms as well as business functions and key operations to implement access analytic solutions across the enterprise. The Access Analytics Manager will manage the Access analyst team on the corporate access team.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains good business knowledge and analyzes and interprets data sets once they are assembled by the analytics team.
  • Manages multiple data projects at one time.
  • Partners within the department on data requests to provide actionable data for managers and staff to drive improvements and maintain high quality care.
  • Understands the multiple data sources the team relies on to accomplish their analytical tasks.
  • Translates the business needs into data questions and guides the development of reports and dashboards.
  • Engages in staff development including recruitment, performance management, development and retention of team members. Supervises professional level and support level staff.
  • Leads efforts to develop, maintain and evolve Access department’s analytics reporting capabilities.
  • Maintains up-to-date technical knowledge to identify and apply appropriate tools and methods to various types of analyses. Has full understanding of multiple data environments and business intelligence tools such as Epic’s Clarity database/PennChart, SAP Business Objects, Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, Excel, Tableau and SAP Universes, etc.
  • Identifies, prioritizes and streamlines development of analytical products for Access initiatives.
  • Leads the development of annual KPI/goal setting analyses for enterprise or entity Access metrics.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with system leadership, stakeholders and project leads to facilitate alignment and integration of access data in enterprise access initiatives.
  • Utilizes expertise in data platforms and business intelligence to foster and develop team of analysts and data specialists.
  • Continually looks for areas of optimization and improvement in streamlining data and reporting products for automation and ease of end-user self-service. Uses best-practices in development of reporting processes and understands industry trends.
  • Supports end-user data education and helps connect users with appropriate reporting platforms and products. Is point-of-contact for Access-related data questions or problems.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Healthcare, IT, Finance, Epidemiology, or related field required.
  • 5+ years work experience with data, metrics, and analytics or financial data within the healthcare industry.
  • Masters degree in Business, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Healthcare, IT, Finance, Epidemiology, or related field preferred.

Licenses, Registrations and Certifications:

  •  Epic Clarity Data Model/Cognito Certification preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in querying languages for relational databases: SQL, SAS, etc. preferred.
  • Experience with KPI development and goal setting analyses preferred.
  • Experience with data visualization tools; Tableau, Power BI, etc. required.
  • Strong problem solving, quantitative and technical abilities required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong business sense and ability to learn operational and clinical workflows required.
  • Project Management Skills required.
  • Critical Thinking required.
  • Understanding of business processes and ability to connect it with data required.
  • Detail oriented and able to translate user requirements to specifications for analytics team required.
  • Ability to multitask required.
  • Good communicator with a strong clinical and operational understanding required.
