Summary:
- Scheduling Coordinator position is responsible for the scheduling and coordination of procedures in areas including, but not limited to, minimally invasive gynecology, gynecology, and gynecology oncology The position includes scheduling cases/tests, obtaining insurance authorizations and referrals, answering and triaging telephone calls, collecting and communicating patient demographic/insurance information to the appropriate individuals. The position also includes clerical responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately schedule/coordinate procedures and document needed information in the appropriate systems. Scheduling includes, but is not limited to, collecting correct patient information (demographics, insurance) and appropriate case data, and moving/canceling visit based on physician and/or patient availability.
- Provide timely responses to patient messages and document follow-up on insurance issues in the medical record.
- Update practice teams and procedure/testing departments on changes in provider availability.
- Chart preparation including but not limited to, pulling appropriate case/chart information, reviewing chart data, running reports, retrieving appropriate data from ancillary departments and/or physician offices.
- Answering/coordinating phone calls and documenting patient and insurance company contact.
- Assist patients, physicians, department staff and other hospital staff with questions or problems, as appropriate.
- Coordinate with off-site practices to ensure that procedures and tests are scheduled appropriately and authorizations/referrals are obtained.
- Communicate procedure and test preparation to patients according to physician orders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Credentials:
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
- High School Graduate/GED/Equivalent: - Required
