The Nursing Clinical Coordinator in the Perioperative Care Unit actively participates in a collaborative/consultative/supportive role with the Chief Nursing Officer, the Clinical Directors and the Manager of the Perioperative Care Unit and ESRA team to assure quality patient care. They will provide care to both outpatients and inpatients and collaborate closely within the Interventional Cardiology Department. Nursing Clinical coordinator in this department will oversee the daily flow of patients to and from this department. They will manage staffing on the day to day and coordinate the orientation of new staff to the department. Nursing Clinical Coordinator will partner with the unit leadership team to oversee any projects, quality initiatives, and educational opportunities within the unit. He/she directs, supervises, evaluates and supports patient care activities, serves as a resource and mentor to staff RNs and other personnel on clinical practice and is a resource for the implementation/interpretation of hospital and nursing policies and procedures.
Must have the ability to function in the role of Administrative or Clinical Coordinator.
The Nursing Clinical Coordinator must have the ability to resolve problems that require an administrative decision or intervention in conjunction with Hospital policies and procedures. He/she will collaborate with Clinical Directors, Associate Administrators, and Departmental Directors in decisions that affect patient care and hospital functioning.
Minimum Requirements/Credentials:
The minimum requirements for this position include a BSN, current PA RN license and current ACLS certification. Critical care experience is strongly preferred, and the candidate must have demonstrated, progressive experience in a leadership role (i.e. charge nurse, nurse manager, supervisor).
Superior communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to multi-task, organize, delegate and prioritize as well as the ability to identify resources in problem solving are key. Experience in the facilitation of patient flow in a large, tertiary setting is highly recommended. The ideal candidate must also be an effective negotiator and have strong critical thinking skills.
