Job Summary:

  • Responsible for organization-wide performance improvement, clinical resource management, and clinical effectiveness and quality improvement, facilitation of both internal and external initiatives, including coordination of data collection, analysis, and reporting. Collaborates with professionals both at the entity and system level to identify and implement improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Employee Satisfaction: Regularly meets with employees to improve communication and to build productive relationships. Continuously communicates to staff the importance of patient satisfaction, quality of care, and sound financial performance; and champions our successes and priorities for improving performance in meeting and exceeding patient and customer expectations. Analyze employee satisfaction data& identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Establish/update processes and work practices for the unit/department: Manage and eliminate process workarounds by appropriately and consistently sharing with organizational partners the issues, which require their attention.
  • Manage team and individual performance in alignment with the UPHS vision of service excellence: Drive patient/client loyalty and physician referral by ensuring staff under your supervision understand the UPHS commitment to service, their own work processes, and have the necessary skills to meet service expectations.
  • Internal Partnerships: Works with other clinical and entity leadership in developing programs, services and initiatives to anticipate future customer needs, build customer loyalty and generate profitable growth. Sets standards and drives operational integration of programs by ensuring alignment of communication to Nursing and Non-Nursing Leadership.
  • Regulatory Compliance: (In partnership with Leadership Team) Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory standards and requirements, including JCAHO, Department of Health, funding agencies, FDA, HIPAA, HCFA, DPW and others. Demonstrates understanding of Magnet standards and aligns organization to meet them. Identify the competencies required for each patient population that employee works with (neonate, child, adolescent, young adult, middle adult and older adult). Assure that staff are competent to deal with age specific needs of their population.
  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

Education/Experience:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Social Work, Business, Healthcare or Finance (Required)
  • 5+ years of progressive experience with performance improvement/outcomes management (Required)
  • 5+ years of prior healthcare experience in financial, case management or revenue cycle (Required)
  • Registered Nurse license (Required)

Skills & Abilities:

  • Effective leadership, communication, & interpersonal skills required to form partnerships to create and sustain change in all areas of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Access, Excel, Power point and Microsoft Word programs.
  • Knowledge of data abstraction and analysis techniques, data display and statistics
