The Administrative Director focuses on all aspects of clinical care delivery in the endoscopy center and the surgery center including clinical practice operations, the care delivery environment, Joint Commission preparedness, patient flow, staff development and education, nursing services, patient access to care, and patient satisfaction. The position directs the department's Quality and Performance Improvement Program. Analyzing utilization and assessment data, the makes recommendations and develops initiatives to address practice improvement opportunities and maximize operational efficiency. The individual will possess specific hands-on experience in the ambulatory care environment with knowledge of the range of services and cases. Technical knowledge of federal, state and TJC standards, information technology and clinical practice is crucial. In collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer and the Medical Directors of the ASF & ASC is responsible for planning the scope and emphasis of departmental programs. Establish and oversee programs to insure patient and physician satisfaction.

Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups. Manages all Department business operations to include but not limited to charge capture, supply chain, capital, equipment and systems maintenance, and data collection. This role will collaborate with the Perioperative Leadership and Nursing Leadership of Pennsylvania to advance practice, improve care, accomplish global relevant projects, establish and implement quality initiatives, maintain regulatory readiness, all Magnet initiatives, and improving patient satisfaction and experience.

Patient/client focus-regularly meets with employees to improve communication and team building. Continuously communicates to staff the importance of patient satisfaction, quality of care, and sound financial performance. Analyzes staff satisfaction surveys and collaborates with staff to develop and implement action plans, Manages & eliminates process workarounds.

Internal Partnerships-works with UPHS leadership, clinical leadership & entity leadership to develop programs, services & initiatives to anticipate future customer needs, build customer loyalty and generate profitable growth. Set standards and drive operation efficiency within the departments.

Work Processes & Practices-create staffing pattern/OR/ENDO schedules for maximum efficiency while remaining fiscally responsible. Review patient satisfaction survey comments and follow-up when appropriate. Share data with staff and mutually identify opportunities for improvement within the department. Collaborate with staff to develop action plans for improvement.

Manage Team and individual performance in alignment with UPSH vision of service excellence-drive patient /client loyalty and physician referral by ensuring staff understand the UPHS commitment to serve, their own work processes and have the necessary skills to meet service expectations. Provide timely follow-up to patient complaints. Ensure staff understand and demonstrate service recovery commitment.

Establish/update processes & work practices for the department. Build work processes based on the Institute of Medicines Six Aims for Improvement: SAFE, EFFECTIVE, PATIENT-CENTERED, TIMELY, EFFICIENT & EQUITABLE. Institute operational changes based on data. Communicate, reinforce & update as necessary environment of care procedures. Participate in and support patient safety goals and initiatives.

Manage Team and Individual Performance-Communicate roles, accountabilities, and performance measures to all staff. Identify unit quality metrics, & review and communicate monthly to staff. Train staff in safety nets and encourage use to capture trends. Ensure compliance with all federal, state & local regulatory standards and requirements including TJC, DOH, FDS, HIPPA, HCFA, DPQW & others. Demonstrate understanding of Magnet standards and align organization to meet them

Change Management-proactively develop change management strategy withing Nursing and UPHS to align with UPHS objectives. Ensure communications plans are effectively implemented. Ensure follow-up of major issues, evaluate effectiveness of change and implementation plans.

Nursing Leadership-provide vision & leadership for Nursing Practice Model. Participate in the selection, career development & annual performance review of staff & peers. Collaborate with other nurse leaders to implement best practices.

Proactively promote efforts to improve cost effective quality patient care.


Bachelor’s Degree required with Master’s preferred or obtained within 3 years

Nursing or relevant clinical field or business/ operations with 4+ years of progressive management experience

Registered and licensed nurse in the Commonwealth Registered and licensed nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
