System Administrator 

Responsible for fulfilling business requirements using sound, proven, industry best practices and in accordance with architectural standards and engineering methodology. Analyzes and resolves complex issues related to server administration and operations, system software, storage management, backup methodology, virtualization, monitoring and management tools, business continuity, high availability solutions, provide hardware estimates, support hardware and related applications. Analyzes, coordinates, and implements infrastructure application developmentprojects. Ability to manage Microsoft SQL database systems is a plus with moderate to skilled database administration skills. Ability to work with multiple developers on numerous custom applications and understand source control, .net and custom application configurations on systems is a plus. Microsoft Azure and SharePoint skills are a plus. Basic networking, DNS and routing skills is a plus. Monitors system performance and capacity, and provides periodic system status reports to department management. Analyzes reports to identify trends and opportunities for process and technology enhancements. Provides cost and trend analysis and resolutions to critical Infrastructure problems.

Accountabilities

  • Build and support server infrastructure and systems
  • Responsible for maintaining the server and virtual machine environments
  • Responsible for SQL database administration tasks.
  • Responsible for custom applications to operate as expected on systems with failover or load balancing techniques
  • Responsible for troubleshooting technical issues when they occur
  • Manage physical and virtual server environments using sound process and procedures
  • Service, incident and change request ticket management
  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

Senior System Administrator 

Responsible for providing guidance and engineering solutions to fulfill business requirements using sound, proven, industry best practices and in accordance with architectural standards and engineering methodology. Develops and presents recommendations to Sr. Management. Analyzes and resolves complex issues related to server administration and operations, system software, storage management, backup methodology, virtualization, monitoring and management tools, business continuity, high availability solutions, provide hardware estimates, support hardware and related applications. Analyzes, coordinates, and implements infrastructure application developmentprojects. Ability to manage Microsoft SQL database systems is a plus with moderate to skilled database administration skills. Ability to work with multiple developers on numerous custom applications and understand source control, .net and custom application configurations on systems is a plus. Microsoft Azure and SharePoint skills are a plus. Basic networking, DNS and routing skills is a plus. Monitors system performance and capacity, and provides periodic system status reports to department management and provides proactive remediation. Analyzes reports to identify trends and opportunities for process and technology enhancements and coordinates system enhancements with architectural team. Provides cost and trend analysis and resolutions to critical Infrastructure problems. Acts as a technical escalation point for junior team members.

  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization


Minimum Requirements

System Administrator 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree is required (in Computer Science or related degree program preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience with System Administration, VMWare and Storage is required.
  • 3+ years of experience with Cloud infrastructure is preferred

Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications

  • MCSE certification is preferred

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Windows system admin
  • Linux system admin
  • Working knowledge of networking including routing, switching, firewalls.
  • Working knowledge of common security devices and practices.
  • DEVOPS experience
  • VMware experience
  • Storage and backup systems
  • Healthcare experience


Senior System Administrator 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years of System administration, VMWare and Storage of experience
  • (If Bachelor's Degree is in Computer science or related degree program, only 4+ years Server Infrastructure, Cloud Infrastructure, storage is required)

Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications

  • MCSE certification is prefered

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Senior level Windows system admin
  • Senior level Linux system admin
  • Working knowledge of networking including routing, switching, firewalls.
  • Working knowledge of common security devices and practices.
  • DEVOPS experience
  • VMware experience
  • Storage and backup systems
