The Manager, Infrastructure Engineering & Operations leads and manages multiple technical work teams supporting the daily operation of Penn Medicine information systems and data centers. This position manages the operation, optimization and life cycle of servers and systems. Responsibilities also include the management of teams, contractors and consultants through multiple projects to ensure milestones and project deliverables are met. The Manager, Infrastructure Engineering & Operations role provides timely, accurate and consistent technical infrastructure services to internal and external clients. This role coordinates team resources across many Penn Medicine teams to identify and implement new systems in support of business functions while working to ensure effective cost control.

 

Accountabilities

  • Leads technology infrastructure strategy and execution for the enterprise. Develops infrastructure standards and operations processes to ensure the security, availability, stability and scalability of enterprise solutions.
  • Maintains enterprise's technology infrastructure ensuring that it is optimized for security, availability, resiliency, scalability and efficiency.
  • Manages the performance of direct reports including work assignments, goal setting, annual reviews, time and attendance, salary administration, etc. Develops and executes strategies to build and maintain a high performing technical team.
  • Provides direction and leadership for complex infrastructure implementation, system upgrades and operational troubleshooting.
  • Analyzes, diagnoses, suggests and implements process changes with a demonstrated ability to follow issues to resolution focusing on strong customer service.
  • Plans and delivers solutions in line with enterprise goals, relying on extensive experience and judgment to manage to plan and accomplish goals in a timely, cost effective manner.
  • Communicates all necessary infrastructure changes, enhancements, and procedures to all necessary internal department teams.
  • Manages team members through the project management life cycle to ensure that overall progress and management of project tasks are on track.
  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

 

Minimum Requirements

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field is required
  • 7+ years of experience performing system administration and engineering for at least one of the following technologies: VMWare, Microsoft Server, Azure or Red Hat Linux is required .
  • 3+ years of managerial, supervisory or lead experience is required .
  • Experience with service providers such as TCS, DXC or Infosys is required .


Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications

  • VCP - VMWare Certified Professional
  • RHCE - RedHat Certified Engineer
  • MCSE - Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer

  • Ability to utilize a hands-on approach and detail orientation in leading technology transformation programs.
  • Ability to implement and manage large, complex, highly-available enterprise class solutions across the full range of infrastructure services.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise storage technologies such as Data Domain, Powermax, Isilon, Unity and Brocade.
  • Working knowledge of Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI) and Software Defined Datacenters (SDDC).
  • Working knowledge of cloud computing based services architecture, technical design and implementations including infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service models.
