  • A Clinical Nurse Specialist who sub-specialize in wound, ostomy, and continence (WOC) care are responsible for the treatment and management of disorders affecting the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. As such, their scope of care typically involves the treatment of ostomies, stomas, acute and chronic wounds, and urinary and fecal incontinence. The Clinical Nurse Specialist for Wound, Ostomy, and Continence assists the nursing staff, physician and medical residents in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients with wounds, ostomies, and continence problems. Education in skin and wound care, ostomy care, and continence care is provided for staff in orientation and within the continuing nursing education program. Is a consultant for the physicians of PHCS.


  • Preventing Skin Breakdown and initiating preventative measures to reduce the incidences of pressure ulcer and vascular ulcers. Treating and managing skin reactions, vascular ulcers, pressure ulcers, post –operative wounds, radiation wounds, acute wounds in the emergency department and diabetic ulcers. Wounds also include chronic wounds and may include areas surrounding feeding tubes. Provide comprehensive wound management, including reducing causative factors, controlling order, assessing nutritional needs and providing and applying topical therapies. Assessing and treating draining wounds and fistulae including the design of pouch systems for draining wounds and fistulae. Assists nursing staff in assessment of wounds, identifying appropriate management of wounds and evaluation of effectiveness of management and providing instructions on proper wound dressing.


  • Registered Nurse - NJ (Required)
  • Wound Care Cert (preferred)
  • Ostomy Management Specialist (OMS) (preferred)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) (Required)
  • Minimum 2 Years' clinical experience (required)
