Penn Medicine Media is looking for a Full-Time Optician for the Internal Medicine dept.!!!!!!!

Summary: Facilitates an excellent experience for the Penn Optical customer by delivering high quality care and individualized service. Responsibilities: providing direct customer sales; participating in the selection of merchandise and inventory; managing all cash sales and insurance transactions per UPHS and departmental policies; and managing all aspects of accounts receivable.

Responsibilities: Meeting Customer Needs

Learn individual customer needs and do the best job possible of satisfying those needs.

Facilitate and deliver customer service seamlessly across system boundaries.

Modify interactions to accommodate the diverse needs of the customer.

Anticipate customer’s probable physical and emotional needs and make all attempts to meet them.

Check and return all phone messages on a daily basis within the first half hour of the office opening.

Check lab work cabinet every morning, investigate and document any job over five working days and communicate with patients as necessary.

Inspect all patient’s lab work and calls within one hour of work arrival.

Document whom they spoke with, the date, and the caller.

Customer Satisfaction

Monitor wait times for service and for goods ordered--keeping customers informed on what we are doing to resolve problem.

Provide best possible eyewear solution that is responsive to each customer needs.

Make every attempt to meet customer special needs.

Customer Confidentiality

Maintain customer confidentiality regarding clinical and sales information.

Non-Essential Accountabilities:

Arrive at office at least 10 minutes prior to shop opening for preparation of all opening procedures.

Make daily deposit by 10:00 AM following business day.

Responsible for insuring that all frame cabinets, boards, displays etc. are locked at daily closing of office and that all patients trays and shipping boxes are locked securely in all areas.

Participates in all quarterly scheduled staff meetings.

Non-work related online internet time limited to breaks and scheduled lunch hour.

Participate in one-on-one training with supervisor one day per quarter.

Complete a quarterly individual education on sales figures, be attentive to punctuality, be knowledgeable of optical growth/improvement and technology.

Shop outside opticals as needed to compare product, pricing, market trends, etc.

Credentials: Licensure is not required of an Optician in Pa. Certification by professional organization is required within one year of employment.

Education or Equivalent Experience: Bachelor degree preferred. Business, accounting, and/or finance coursework is a plus. Three to five years experience as an optician required.
