Schedule:
Flexible and variable shifts available to accommodate work life balance! Shift preference availability typically within first year of hire. Schedule possibilities include 12-hour shifts starting at 7:30a, 11:30a, 7:30p and every third weekend rotation with a varied schedule to accommodate your life! Our Emergency Department provides care to about 42,000 patients annually, with varying level of urgent medical care and consists of 32 treatment rooms. Multiple daily shift assignment options include working in our triage space, resuscitation rooms and fast track assignments with expedited patient throughput. Additional educational opportunities including specialty orientations for triage, charge, preceptor and clinical emergency roles.
The Emergency Department is supported by a Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager and Clinical Practice lead. Our Charge Nurses are on staff 24/7 and are representative of leadership in our absence. The Department offers a fast-paced environment, requiring the ability to re-prioritize throughout the day. Education and training experience
Experience preferred; however, training and specialty specific education programs are provided during orientation and must be successfully completed as scheduled. Penn is well known for their phenomenal nurse residency program.
BSN Required
Current Pennsylvania RN License.
CPR certification required.
ACLS, PALS certification required, or must or must complete within 12 months of hire.
Certification of CEN preferred (additional compensation of $1000 a year)
Basic computer skills: keyboard, mouse use. Ability to complete data entry on clinical documentation screens. Ability to use email and internet. Ability to successfully complete on the job training for HUP computer programs. Ability to practice critical thinking and organizational skills. Ability to speak, read, write and understand English.
