Position Description:
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
Explaining test procedures to patients
Applying all recording, monitoring and stimulating electrodes
Recording EEG according to standards of the laboratory including the 10-20 system
Providing initial interpretation of results and communicating urgent findings immediately with physicians
Recognizing and eliminating artifacts
Calibrating all equipment used
Troubleshooting and correcting malfunctions
Selecting appropriate amplifier settings and obtaining quality data
Providing technical descriptions of EEG studies
Scheduling appointments for patient testing
Maintaining communication across inpatient units
Participating in teaching conferences and technical meetings
Verifying patient, physician's orders and gathering appropriate information from chart and/or interviews the patient/caregiver to provide accurate history
Minimum Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent level of education required
Associates degree preferred
Completion of an accredited EEG school program and/Or
3+ years of prior EEG work experience required
American Heart Association BCLS Required
Must achieve registry in EEG within 2 years of hire
Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG T.)
