Job Summary:

  • Responsible for processing and responding to all correspondence and telephone billing related issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Gathers patient /insurance information.
  • Reviews and investigates all documentation for completeness.
  • Updates patient/insurance information on SMS/EPIC system.
  • Reconciles account balances to insure receipt of accurate insurance and patient copay and or deductibles.

    Credentials:

    • Must attend and pass all SMS and Epic modules within the required time.

      Education/Experience:

      • High school diploma or GED (Required)
      • 1+ years of office experience (Required)
      • Billing experience (Preferred)
      • Knowledge of computerized medical billing systems (Preferred).
      • Knowledge of accounts receivable follow-up or patient account resolution (Preferred).

      Skills & Abilities:

      • Attention to detail required.
      • Ability to use computerized billing systems (SMS and Epic) preferred.
      • Knowledge of third party billing preferred.
      • Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with insurance carriers, patients and various entities within UPHS.
