Penn Medicine Princeton Health is seeking a medical receptionist to work the day shift full-time.

Position Summary:

The medical receptionist is primarily responsible for coordinating preoperative documents for patients' surgery. This includes but not limited to: faxing, email, scanning, uploading documents to EMR. 

Following up with offices for pre-op documentation.The perioperative service line secretary position is responsible for covering various units within the service line, including Pre-Admission Testing, Ambulatory Surgery, Operating Room and Main Hospital Perioperative Areas. Duties include but are not limited to preparing patient charts, scheduling procedures, and serving as a point of contact for patients prior, during, and after procedures.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Greets patients and visitors to the surgical services area. Answers telephones and responds to inquiries. Collates patient’s charts.

2. Communicates with physicians’ office representatives and/or nurses to prepare patient health information prior to surgical procedures. Coordinates the scheduling of surgical procedures.

3. Reviews perioperative documents for required elements per policy prior to scanning into the EMR

4. Serves a resource to patients and families before, during, and after the perioperative experience. Informs patients of arrival time and pre-surgical instructions.

5. Reviews patients charts for completeness checking for H&Ps and medical clearances within guidelines or device forms as requested by surgeon and/or Anesthesia; follows up as needed with medical personnel to ensure completeness.

Qualifications

  • Education

    • High School Graduate/GED/Equivalent Work Exp. required
    • Associate’s Degree preferred

  • Related Work Experience
    • At least two (2) years' previous work experience
