Trauma/ESS Advanced Practice Providers (APP) at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) provide geographic coverage on Cupp 4 East Trauma/ESS floor. The APP functions autonomously and in collaboration with health care professionals to diagnose, treat and manage patient’s health problems. They independently develop diagnostic decision-making skills which allow for accurate assessment, appropriate intervention, diagnostic reasoning, and care planning with a holistic approach. This position is 40 hours per week (12 hour days- Friday, Sat and Sunday) with additional time required to fulfill the responsibility of the position Monday through Friday with mandatory rotating weekends and holidays. As an APP on the Trauma / ESS service, you will work with five other APPs and ten surgeons.
Trauma/ESS APP function under the guidelines as designed by Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and service under the medical staff guidelines. The CRNP or PA hired by the Department of Advanced Practice will be held accountable through a formal job description, through the delineation of privileges, and through their agreement with their collaborating physician who has initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement. All clinical work hours and associated requirements will be defined and managed under the direction of the collaborating physician/division designee and within the Human Resource guidelines.
The CRNP or PA, while providing quality care across the continuum in collaboration with physicians, nursing staff and other members of the care team, performs histories, physicals, and procedures according to credentialing, and provide care and patient/family teaching following the nursing process. Also participates in research as appropriate, ensures regulatory compliance, documents care according to standards, and prescribes by following the collaborative agreement and State regulations.
