The Cardiac Rehab at Pennsylvania Hospital is searching for a RN Lead to join their growing team. This position will not be required to work nights, holidays, on call, or weekends !
Summary:
- The Cardiac Rehab RN Lead independently works in the Cardiac Rehab using advanced nursing skills to guide practice and patient care while maintaining the role of a staff nurse. The RN Lead is able to evaluate patients including analyzes hemodynamics and ECGs, performs all clinical/exercise procedures and provides emergency support. The Lead Cardiac Rehab RN works closely with the Nurse Manager to lead the development, implementation and evaluation of educational programs for Cardiac Rehab. The Lead Cardiac Rehab RN collaborates with the Nurse Manager and the Medical Director to identify educational needs of the staff including nurses, exercise physiologist, technologists and PSA's to meet all regulatory, clinical and quality educational needs.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the admission and on-going care of all referred patients. Proactively review patient schedule to ensure patient diagnosis legitimacy, correct order/Rx and ensure proper staffing availability.
- Coordinate the orientation of all newly hired Cardiac Rehab staff. Collaborates with Manager to develop annual competencies.
- Development and coordinate required quarterly education (clinical processes, equipment, etc.) in partnership with Manager and Medical Director including regular educational in-services inclusive of all staff.
- Ensures the staff are aware of and following all regulatory requirements (i.e. universal protocol, chart audits, CR protocols etc.)
- Serves as a resource to all staff as a subject matter expert in Cardiac Rehab. Collaborate with Manager and Medical Director to review and edit existing policies/protocols on annual basis. Serve as the point person to develop new policies for new procedures and technology. Provide resources/citations for policy review.
- Manages patients as a case-manager based on the needs of the department.
- Works with Manager to bring any safety concerns forward and help to develop resolution. Troubleshoot clinical and gym equipment issues and work with IT, Biomed, Vendors, and Building Manager for resolution.
- Will work as needed on patient case management, up to 20% of role, but will mainly focus on patient referrals, patient time management and department initiatives.
Credentials:
- Registered Nurse - PA (Required)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required, will allow time per policy to acquire)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- Bachelor of Science Nursing (Required)
- Minimum 2 years' experience Cardiac Rehab, Cardiac Care, or Emergency Services
