As a valued member of the healthcare team, the Licensed Practical Nurse plays a vital role in delivering high-quality care to patients at the Abramson Cancer Center clinic. Their responsibilities include administering healthcare services, monitoring patient vitals, coordinating lab work, and maintaining patient charts. The LPN also collaborates with Physicians/Nurse Practitioners and works seamlessly with their team in a fast-paced medical oncology office. Punctuality and attendance are critical, and due to the vulnerable patient population, COVID vaccinations are mandatory. This position is located in West Chester, with occasional travel required to our Exton & Kennett Square offices. The preferred work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, but schedules may be subject to change based on the needs of the practice. 


  • The Licensed Practical Nurse assists physicians and performs healthcare services to patients in hospitals, private homes, clinics, and other healthcare facilities. Monitors and charts patients, collects sample, and performs other tasks as assigned, all under the direction of registered nurses and doctors.


  • Administers prescribed medications, gives injections and vaccines, reads PPD results.
  • Performs electrocardiograms (EKG) and screening tests.
  • Obtains and tests specimens following standard operating procedures and documents results, taking appropriate action with unexpected results. Prepares specimens for transport as necessary.
  • Triages patient telephone encounters and includes provider when necessary.
  • Assists provider with surgical procedures including positioning patients, keeping a sterile field, and wound cleaning and dressing.
  • Prepares paperwork to complete patient visit.
  • Obtains and documents patient's vital signs as needed and reports abnormal results to provider.
  • Cleans, disinfects, sterilizes and checks to make sure all instruments and equipment are in proper working order.
  • Maintains medication storage closets.
  • Participates in orienting new team members.


  • Licensed Practical Nurse (Required)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • 1+ years Outpatient experience
  • Practice Nursing School 1+ years Outpatient experience
