Summary:

  • Under the general supervision of the Supervisor of CPD, the Lead Tech will coordinate and monitor all items issued from CPD, by auditing the items for accuracy before they are released for patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • • Performs daily instrument tray audits to ensure proper instrument count and cleanliness • Supports the continuous improvement of quality and service to ensure the goal of excellence in clinical outcomes and customer satisfaction • Monitors case carts for completeness • Checks all sterilization records on a daily basis • Collaborates with other departments to ensure the appropriate professional standards are consistently applied within the Surgery and nursing Patient Care Areas, e.g., OSHA, JCAHO, CDC, etc • Demonstrates leadership and collaborative management skills and effective verbal and written communication skills. This includes documentation, communication and/or presentation • Works in conjunction with the CPD Supervisor on the job training through CPD orientation program for new employees • Coordinates instrumentation delegation with OR Coordinators and CPD Supervisors • Performs in a Technician role as needed • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.

Credentials:

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • 2+ years Experience with surgical instruments and medical supplies
