The Department of Patient Transport Services at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is seeking an Operations Manager:

Summary:

Primary function will be to manage the day-to-day operations of Patient Transport including the Telemetry Transport Team in an effective manner that contributes positively to the overall experience of all customers. Works collaboratively with others to ensure these objectives are met.

Responsibilities:

Provides appropriate in-service training for transporters and telemetry transport staff. Collaborates with Nursing education staff to develop and maintain education programs for transporters and telemetry transport staff. Interfaces with nursing care units, nursing leadership, and ancillary departments to provide transport needs of patients requiring monitoring during transport, as defined in the Telemetry Transport position description and guidelines for the program and those that do require it.

Evaluates the effectiveness of Patient Transport and Telemetry Transport on a continual basis. Implement changes when indicated based on productivity, quality and satisfaction indicators. Collaborates closely with Nursing, Medical Staff, and others as needed to maintain an on-going assessment of needs. Develop and maintain appropriate scheduling and triage functionality for optimal productivity and coverage of patients requiring transports.

Ensures staff compliance with patient safety standard, regulatory agency requirements, hospital policies, mandatory educational programs, and others as prescribed.

Credentials:

CPR/BLS Pennsylvania certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)(Required)
Emergency Medical Technician certification (PA DOH) EMT-B, AEMT, or EMT-P (Preferred)
*Out of state certifications require National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) level certification*

Education or Equivalent Experience:

Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
HS Diploma (Required)
2 years experience in a Patient Transport, Patient Transfer, EMS, EMS Dispatch, or similar Hospital/Healthcare field. (Required)
1 year experience in a supervisory role managing EMS or patient care staff. (Preferred)

OR

Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
HS Diploma/GED (Required)
4 years experience in a Patient Transport, Patient Transfer, EMS, EMS Dispatch, or similar Hospital/Healthcare field. (Required)
3 years experience in a supervisory role managing EMS or patient care staff (Required)

In lieu of direct supervisory experience, consideration will be made for the following in a high volume environment:
-EMS or Transport Dispatcher
-Lead EMT-B or Lead EMT-P for a EMS Transport or 911 Ambulance
-Lead Telemetry Transporter
3 years experience in UPHS entity Patient Transport, Lift Team, or PeriOp Transport department as a Telemetry Transporter, Dispatcher, or Lead Telemetry Transporter role. (Preferred)
