Working for this leading academic medical center means collaboration with top clinical, technical and business professionals across all disciplines.The Perioperative Nursing Clinical Efficiency Coordinator actively participates in a collaborative/consultative/supportive role with staff and members of the perioperative leadership team to ensure efficient patient throughput and quality patient care. The Perioperative Nursing Clinical Efficiency Coordinator also works collaboratively with the auxiliary patient units and perioperative services personnel.
He/she helps streamlines patient flow and works with staff, ancillary personnel, and perioperative leadership to identify opportunities for process improvement in patient throughput. He/she identifies, problem-solves, communicates, and delegates matters to facilitate efficient patient flow. He/she supports use of the Epic tool in communicating surgical case times and delays, turnovers, reports, and data extraction.
He/she is competent in Epic, Excel, and other technological tools to source, synthesize, and present data. The Perioperative Nursing Clinical Efficiency Coordinator provides hands-on, real-time support for staff and surgeons throughout the day and actively engage with members of the perioperative team to enhance communication, teamwork, efficiency, and safety. He/she supports ongoing departmental performance improvement initiatives to improve safe and efficient patient care.
Job Summary: The responsibilities of this RN Coordinator includes, but is not limited to, coordination of all operational activities for OR improvement initiatives. This includes collaboration with the OR Nurse Manager, Attending Surgeon staff, Central Processing Manager, Operating Room Materials Manager and vendors to develop and manage all aspects of patient care, utilization of departmental personnel, fiscal responsibility and material resources. Accountabilities: Clinical Judgment: • Develops or assists in the development of and implementation of the policies and procedures required to support the requirements of all licensing or regulatory agencies. • Coordinates or assists with the development and implementation of educational programs to support quality of care within the department or service line. • Supports excellence in patient care by planning for positive patient outcomes. • Participates in clinical care as necessary. • All other duties as assigned by Nurse Manager. Communication: • Maintains positive and effective interpersonal relations with all members of the perioperative team; including but not limited to all levels of physician surgical staff, ancillary departments, hospital administration and all ancillary departments • Is proactive in response to all queries, staff issues and clinical issue. • Collaborates with peers to resolve issues efficiently and effectively. • Mentors new, inexperienced or other staff to assure positive and quality patient outcomes. • Exhibits leadership qualities in problem solving, setting priorities and clinical excellence. • All other duties as assigned by Nurse Manager. Quality/Performance Improvement: • Actively participates in departmental quality initiatives. • Provides leadership in assessment of departmental personnel as related to fulfillment of job expectations. •Collaborates with the Nurse Manager and provides tangible feedback concerning staff performance. • Supports the shared governance model. • Insures efficient and effective operations through compliance with institutional and regulatory policies and procedures. • All other duties as assigned by Nurse Manager. • Designs and implements actions to maintain fiscal responsibility of the overall Operating Room operation. • Identifies scheduling conflicts and resolves proactively. • In conjunction with the OR Nurse Manager, identifies and implements cost containment measures. • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization |
Credentials:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing is required in conjunction with relevant Operating Room experience. - Current RN license with the state of Pennsylvania required. - CPR/BLS required -EPIC required -Emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills - CNOR preferred. |
