The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Full-time, Lead 3D MRI Tech!

  • Operates radiology equipment using proper techniques and patient positioning to produce high quality images
  • Maintains radiology equipment and troubleshoots service problems
  • Performs quality assurance testing consistent with section protocols
  •   Operates ancillary equipment needed to perform examination and take care of patients needs 
  •  Stays current with new technology and procedures consistent with section protocols
  •  Practices radiation safety guideline
  •   Cleans room and changes linen after completion of each procedure 
  •  Read all staff notes; attend section and quarterly meetings; keep abreast of all changes within the Department. 
  • Stock supplies and maintain equipment as needed. 
  •  Assist changing patients into dressing gown
  •  Archive, Verifies images in a times fashion. 
  •  Perform proper procedures and protocols for various studies done in the section. 
  •  Maintains and provides annual registry certification from ARRT, maintain all mandatory in-services and CPR as required by JCAHO. 
  •  Operates and trouble shoots scanner and contrast injector 
  • Maintain accurate records for each patient exam in Penn Chart, and comments appropriately in Penn Chart. Effectively uses patient identifiers at all times. 
  • Place angiocatheters, and is able to use ultrasound IV placement angiocatheters if needed.
  • The incumbent is responsible for monitoring the supplies used and reporting them to the technologists in charge of supplies. Must enter all pertinent data to PENNCHART for patient billing.
  •  Attends staff meetings and departmental in services
  •  Is flexible and able to accommodate frequent changes in procedures as they are developed.
  •  Communicate equipment problems and image quality issues. 
  •  Obtain consent forms as needed.
  •  Read all staff notes; attend section and quarterly meetings; keep abreast of all changes within the Department. 
  • Prepare magnet room, maintain cleanliness of area. 
  • Compliance with NRC and TJC regulatory requirements
  • Decrease in patient incidents 
  •  Reduction of room down time
  • Decrease in repeated/additional studies Prepare magnet room, 
  •  Operate MRI scanner, all RF coils, MRI workstations, laser cameras, film processors, patient monitoring equipment, MR injectors.
  •  Assist patients in understanding procedures, screen for Biomedical and metallic implants; ask pertinent questions regarding medical history, change patients into dressing gowns. Monitor patients in scan room during examination. 
  • Place angiocatheters, inject IV MRI contrast agents as


    Minimum Job Requirements: 

    •  Completion of an approved school of Radiologic Technology with certification by ARRT. 
    • Five years clinical experience in MRI Required, 3D preferred
    • Experience with Siemens preferred.
