Summary:

    In collaboration with Mental Health Worker team member, Clinician provides community-based therapeutic services and case management for children ages 4-19 with severe emotional disturbance (SED) who are at high risk of hospitalization, juvenile justice involvement and foster care placement. The Clinician also provides case management and therapeutic services for their caregivers and family members and collaborates with MHW in family therapy sessions. Clinicians are responsible for guiding the therapeutic treatment and writing all assessments, monthly treatment plans, and discharge summaries. Services include meeting and liaising with school personnel, mental health treaters, medical providers, DHS/CUA, and other providers. Travel to client homes, schools, hospitals, residential treatment facilities (RTFs) and other community sites is required. Clinicians also regularly provide crisis response services to support families in de-escalating and achieving safety. Each PHIICAPS team typically provides service to eight children and their families averaging of 4-5 hours working with each family every week. Paid after-hours on-call responsibilities are included in the PHIICAPS model. The standard schedule for Mental Health Workers and Clinicians is 11a-7p, M-F, but flexibility is required to meet clients’ scheduling and safety needs outside of those hours.

      Education or Equivalent Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Master’s degree in related field (Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, etc) with 2-3 years of experience working with children and/or adolescents is required. Training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) and/or other Evidence-Based Treatment for Child is preferred.
