Summary:

  • Through knowledge and ability to perform all functions within Patient Transport Service to include Customer Service, dispatching using Penn Chart system, Emergency Response Procedures, monitor high volume patient flow areas. Assist with supervision of Dispatchers and Transport staff, works with PAH department and unit managers as needed to maximize efficiency. Other responsibilities include, but not limited to, overseeing all patient & equipment transports, conduct employee shadowing, monitor equipment, assist with investigating and resolving patient transport issues, provide guidance and support for the patient transport team to improve and sustain productivity. Assist with insuring prompt response time for all transports. Assist with departmental regulatory compliance; takes the lead in projects assigned by department Director/Manager and monitor all emergency equipment. Maintains open communication with department managers on all departmental issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicates to key stakeholders, on a daily and real time manner, issues regarding transport that may impact patient care & safety.
  • Assists transporters with managing their unit delays & ensures timely response of all patient transports.
  • Oversees department operations and looks for deficiencies and assists with staff meetings, in-services, and process improvement projects. Helps ensure the department is operationally efficient and effective. Participates in department action planning and quality improvement.
  • Promptly responds to all departmental patient transport complaints. Works with PAH department and unit personnel as needed to achieve constructive resolution of service issues.
  • Helps ensure all staffing needs are met and assists with and implements actions to correct staffing deficiencies. Assist in training new employees.
  • Troubleshoots software and ROVER system problems, communicates when appropriate.
  • Assists with overseeing the performance of all transporters and dispatcher.
  • Acting as a good steward of the department and hospital’s equipment.

Credentials:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required) - American Heart Association
  • Emergency Medical Technician
  • PA Depart of Health EMT certification

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • EMT License and telemetry certification preferred
