Summary:

  • This position will provide bedside assessment and direct intervention to parents and families in the Pennsylvania Hospital Intensive Care Nursery (ICN) who are coping with distress, experiencing postpartum depression, anxiety, and PTSD, as well as grief counseling for families experiencing loss. This position will also continue to build a more integrated and comprehensive program of services to include staff support, outreach with internal and external partners, supervision and opportunities for trainees in psychology, and peer to peer programming for ICN parents and families.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide bedside assessment and care plan establishment for parents and families who are dealing with distress, postpartum depression, anxiety, etc.
  • Provide enhanced, family-centered care to patients and their families in the ICN
  • Decrease barriers to needed psychology treatment for caregivers of ICN patients
  • Assist families in coping with the social isolation that an ICN stay can create through fostering an environment that includes peer support
  • Connect with external psychology resources and recommend them to parents and families as appropriate
  • Support ICN staff in the education around and practice of trauma informed care

Credentials:

    Education or Equivalent Experience:

    • Ph.D.
    • Ph.D in Clinical Psychology and knowledge regarding providing psychology service to those experiencing trauma as well as postpartum depression/anxiety
    • PhD or Doctorate
    • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and knowledge regarding providing psychology service to those experiencing trauma as well as postpartum depression/anxiety
