Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) is seeking a Chemistry Lab Supervisor. This position is 2nd shift full-time. PPMC is a renowned center for cardiac care and ophthalmology. PPMC’s campus includes the Musculoskeletal Center’s outpatient facility at Penn Medicine University City and the Pavilion for Advanced Care, which is home to Penn Medicine’s Level 1 Regional Resource Trauma Center. The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the work activities and performance of all Stat lab staff.

Responsibilities: 
  • Participates in the recruitment, interviewing and hiring of new employees.
  • Conduct employee annual performance appraisals.
  • Performs and approve payroll activities.
  • Coordinates the training of new employees and maintains the competency assessments of all employees.
  • Updates the laboratory policy and procedure manuals annually and make sure all employees are kept up to date with any changes.
  • Performs method validations, linearity, and parallel studies on all laboratory instruments.
  • Investigate laboratory incident reports and document the findings as per UPHS procedures.
  • Conduct employee disciplinary action in accordance with the human resources policies.
  • Monitor and maintain the laboratory quality control indicators to conform to all accreditation agencies.
  • Coordinate the performance and documents all survey activities.
  • Ensure the laboratory compliance with all accreditation agencies.
  • Trouble shoot testing methods and equipment as needed.
  • Inventory and maintain adequate levels of supplies and reagents for the lab.
  • Provides technical support to staff, physicians, and other hospital personnel to resolve any issues related to laboratory services.
  • Participates in PI activities including preparation of various CEQI and UBCL reports for the area.
  • Annually reviews SOPs and operations of the stat lab to ensure compliance with various accreditations agencies requirements

Qualifications
    • 5+ years Bachelor's Degree Prior experience working in laboratory environment.
    • MT(ASCP) MT (ASCP) or equivalent Registration.
