Summary:

  • Facilitates linguistic and cultural communication between patients seeking health-care services and their providers.

Responsibilities:

  • Rendering all messages accurately and completely, without adding, omitting or substituting.
  • Filling out Interpreter Service Form each day.
  • Scheduling follow-up appointments for patients and departments.
  • Translating Hospital materials on an as-needed basis.
  • Covering for other interpreters when needed, being flexible with scheduling
  • Assisting Manager of Interpreter Services with projects and initiatives when requested.
  • Educating staff members on how to contact Interpreter Services.
  • Educate staff on why we prefer to use trained interpreters instead of family members.

Credentials:

  • Spanish Hlth Care Interpreter (Required)
  • Certificate of Achievement/Interpretation required.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Interpreter certificate preferred
