Summary:

  • This position is responsible for providing clinical and technical care to cardiac patients in the cardiac catheterizationand/or electrophysiology laboratories.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with perfrming initial patient assessment / primary interview upn patient’s arrival. Assists with transprting patients as needed.Preps fr prcedures using aseptic technique. Prepares patient fr invasive prcedures by preparing catheter sites, preparing table and preparing equipment using sterile technique.Circulates within department during prcedures fr purpses f prviding supplies, attending t the needs f the patient, running 2 Sats and perfrming emergency supprt. Stcks prcedure rms and bedside supplies daily.Respnds t emergency situatins by administratin f CPR, electrical defibrillatin and ventilatin.Assists physicians during prcedures by perfrming scrub assist duties. Prepares specialty equipment as rdered by physician.Analyzes hemdynamics, interprets ECGs and recrds prcedural events prperly.Mnitrs and dcuments events and cnditins f patients in an accurate, clear and precise manner thrughut the prcedure accrding t departmental dcumentatin standards. Maintains mandatry daily lgs and equipment checklists. Ntifies physician and nursing staff f significant changes in patient vital signs and verall status. Ntifies apprpriate departments in the event f an emergency. Prcesses, labels and stres studies apprpriately.Cnducts QC fr invasive and ther prcedures within the department including X-Ray in all prcedure rms, temperature lgs (refrigeratr, blanket warmer). Sets up sterile trays fr invasive prcedures, assists with making prcedure trays using sterile technique.Is familiar and cmpetent with all prcedural and specialty equipment and sftware used during a prcedure fr dcumentatin in the electrnic medical recrd. Trubleshts minr equipment repairs r ntifies Clinical Engineering as needed. Reprts majr equipment prblems t management. Cleans patient equipment daily.Prvides pst-prcedural care upn cnclusin f study/prcedure. Remves sheaths after prcedures, ensures hemstasis, cleans and dresses insertin sites. Educates patient n pst-prcedure guidelines.Assists with rm turnver and lab cleans between prcedures as needed.

Credentials:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS Certification
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
  • ARRT or RCIS (Required)
  • ARRT or RCIS required.
