The Department of Physical Plant at Penn Medicine at Rittenhouse is seeking a Manager of Plant Operations:
Summary:
- Manages the daily operations of the Physical Plant at Penn Medicine at Rittenhouse (PMRH) as it relates to the campus infrastructure such as building equipment, utilities, general building maintenance and in-house renovation projects. This also includes regulatory compliance and management, quality assurance activities and programs and personnel development.
Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership and mentoring to the Physical Plant staff as it relates to the operation of the Rittenhouse campus’ infrastructure, building equipment, utilities, general building maintenance and in-house renovation projects, ensuring all staff provide a safe and comfortable environment for the Rittenhouse staff, patients and visitors.
- Manages the daily operations of the Physical Plant at the Penn Medicine at Rittenhouse (PMRH) campus, ensuring all staff are appropriately trained in equipment and procedures so as to ensure their work is performed efficiently, effectively and safely.
- Monitors staff productivity and administers disciplines as needed.
- Ensures the compliancy of the Collective Bargaining Agreement with Local 835 Union, handling union grievances as they arise in a timely and cooperative manner.
- Monitors expenses for labor, overtime, materials and contractor services for assigned projects, ensuring spending is within the defined budget.
- Financial oversight of the department’s Operational and Capital Expenses / Budgets. Reviews the monthly expenses and provides explanations to the budget variances.
- Provides input during the budget preparation process, both Operational and Capital.
- Assists the HUP Director of Physical Plant and the PMRH site Administrator in planning and evaluating the type and design of equipment for future installation and its impact on the mechanical systems.
- Oversight and maintenance of all critical facility needs and equipment. This includes but is not limited to HVAC & mechanical systems, electrical and life safety systems and building automation systems.
- Monitors the Department’s Preventive Maintenance and Work Order programs for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensures work is performed with all federal, state and local regulatory standards and requirements.
- Organizes documentation to ensure compliancy for DOH, TJC, CMS and other authorities having jurisdiction.
- Implementation of facility correction plans as indicated in planning or as per inspections / surveys.
- Attends the Environment of Care (EOC) and other assigned committees and participates in the EOC inspections / rounds.
- Ensures all EOC identified deficiencies are handled timely and efficiently to ensure compliancy.
- Participates with the On-Call responsibilities and rotation as needed.
- Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies and procedures.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
- Formal apprenticeship program or technical trade school
- And 5+ years Health care facilities/plant operations/engineering/maintenance experience (Required)
- And 1+ years Previous supervisory/management experience (Required)
- 0-1 years Management experience (Preferred)
OR
- Bachelor of Arts or Science in related engineering field (Preferred)
- And 3+ years Health care facilities/plant operations/engineering/maintenance experience (Required)
- 0-1 years Management experience (Preferred)
