The Operating Room at Pennsylvania Hospital is comprised of 28 operating rooms in 4 different locations throughout the Hospital allowing staff to assist in performing approximately 19,000 cases a year. The top services provided are Orthopedics, Neurology and ENT as well as other services including urology, foot and ankle, general plastics, vascular and cardiac. The OR’s are equipped with the latest surgical and video technology that enables our care teams to deliver the very best patient care. The surgeons at Pennsylvania Hospital are pioneers in their fields and among the most experienced physicians in the country. Using the latest techniques and procedures, they are able to mold the future of surgery to improve the lives of patients worldwide and provide some of the most advanced medical care available today.

Our Registered Nurses provide direct care on elective, acute, and emergent levels from the time of the preoperative interview to the patient's transfer to the PACU post-operatively. Support services are provided by surgical technologists, perioperative assistants, ortho techs and medical secretaries, all of which assist the RN in delivering quality care.

Summary:

  • The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, coordination of all operational activities for OR Case Cart support at the Interventional Support Center (ISC). This includes collaboration with the OR Nurse Manager, Attending Surgeons and other surgical staff, Sterile Processing Staff, Material Service Partner (MSP) Staff and vendors to develop and manage all aspects of case cart building, utilization of ISC personnel, fiscal responsibility and material resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in clinical care as necessary.Assumes overall accountability for their area of responsibility. Delegate’s responsibility to others, in their absence.Maintains positive and effective interpersonal relations with all members of the ISC and perioperative teams; including but not limited to all levels of physician surgical staff, ancillary departments, hospital/facility administration and all ancillary departments.Exhibits leadership qualities in problem solving, setting priorities and clinical excellence.Collaborates with ISC and Periop leadership and provides tangible feedback concerning staff performance.Supports the shared governance model.Designs and implements actions to maintain fiscal responsibility of their area of responsibility.Is proactive to assure all required items (implants and supplies) are in place prior to the scheduled operative case.Identifies scheduling conflicts and resolves proactively.Primary liaison for clinical issues between entity and ISC.

Credentials:

  • Registered Nurse - PA (Required)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
  • Education Specialization: Nursing
