Summary:
- The Coordinator for Nursing Informatics utilizes clinical expertise and knowledge of patient care, operational processes, and information systems for effectively supporting the design, development, implementation and evaluation of patient care within the electronic medical record. Participates in the ongoing development of automated processes and tools related to quality, regulatory requirements, and maturing technology. The Nursing Informatics Specialist acts as a translator, working closely with Information Systems to ensure that clinical user requests are documented, tested, and implemented according to specification. Participates in end user training, supports live implementations, and conducts post-live audits for compliance in functionality usage.
Responsibilities:
- A working knowledge of nursing workflow and processes in order to translate into efficient and effective system development and enhancement.
- Ability to analyze, diagnose, suggest, and implement process change.
- Strong Project Management skills and ability to demonstrate.
- Working knowledge of basic patient safety principles, theory of quality improvement, and regulatory policies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Facilitate education programs for clinicians in the use of new technology and/or system enhancements.
- Working knowledge of varied clinical areas.
- Ability to exercise judgment while working independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft products and PC skills.
Credentials:
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required) - Nursing, Nursing Informatics or related field
- Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in clinical settings. Experience with clinical information systems Education Specialization:
- Master of Arts or Science (preferred) - Nursing Informatics or related-Leadership/Quality fields
