Summary:

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the outpatient Advance Practice Team in their busy and growing Pulmonary Hypertension group at the outpatient practice at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.

Responsibilities include outpatient care for patients with pulmonary hypertension. The position will work closely with physician colleagues in cardiology and pulmonary medicine. The role will include office visits, review of testing, phone triage, and ongoing patient follow-up. There will be a combination of independent practice as well as collaborative clinics with physician partners. The role has an opportunity for some working off site time in telehealth and phone triage.

This position requires a high level of independence but is well supported with a collaborative and multi-disciplinary practice model. The high acuity clinical practice setting is dynamic, fast-paced, and high pressure. Excellent critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills, as well as a strong medical/pharmacology/nursing knowledge are essential. In this role, there will also be tremendous professional growth potential and the opportunity to participate in Penn Medicine’s tripartite mission of clinical care, research, and education. Members of the team participate in a full range of quality initiatives, are encouraged to become active members of professional societies like the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the American Heart Association (AHA).

All nurse practitioners and physician assistants will function under the guidelines as designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The CRNP or PA hired by the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology will be held accountable through a formal job description, through the delineation of privileges, and through their agreement with their collaborating/supervising physician who has initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement. All clinical work hours and associated requirements will be defined and managed by the Clinical Manager for Heart and Vascular Advanced Practice, and within the human resource guidelines.


Credentials:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required)
  • BLS/CPR, as a healthcare provider as per the American Heart Association (For providers in the ambulatory setting) required
  • Certified Nurse Practitione rPA (Required)
  • PA and/or NJ CRNP licensure (CRNP) required.
  • Prescriptive Authority (Required)
  • PA and/or NJ Prescriptive Authority required.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Master of Arts or Science (Required)
  • And 2+ years >2.5years of experience, The CRNP must be reviewed by the Credentials Committee and approved by the Medical Board. Education Specialization: Master's Degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice(DNP) in Nursing
