The Decision Support Analyst will be responsible for the operational management of the Syntellis Performance Manager Decision Support System (DSS) and SDS Datamart. Operations include the loading and auditing of Health System data into Performance Manager, report writing, security administration, education and training, resolving data, system, or user issues, and the continual growth and enhancement of department capabilities.


    • Loads and audits health system data from Epic into the Decision Support System (DSS) monthly.
    • Designs, implements, and audits production and ad-hoc reports using the DSS tool set. 
    • Helps to maintain user profiles and security settings within the DSS applications. 
    • Provides education to DSS users in the DSS applications and tool set. 
    • Contributes to the analysis, implementation, and auditing in the growth and enhancements of the DSS system. 
    • Participates in system upgrades and scheduled vendor releases/maintenance as assigned. 
    • Delivers customer service to Operational clients seamlessly across system boundaries. 
    • Creates and/or maintains clear internal and external documentation of all elements pertaining to data management – data sources, fields, data models, table structures, queries, changes, etc. 
    • Interprets and analyzes complex workflow/system requirements in order to design, configure, test and implement application solutions. 
    • Develops, and executes test plans that are comprehensive and inclusive of application functionality changes and/or enhancements to ensure successful outcomes.  
    • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
    • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.


      • Prior certification in Epic Clarity Data Model is desirable; if not, candidate will be expected to successfully obtain certification within the first six months of employment. (Preferred)
      • Certification in Epic Resolute Hospital or Professional Billing. (Preferred)

        Education or Equivalent Experience:

        • Bachelor's degree. (Required)
        • 3+ years of professional experience in healthcare and strong PC skills. (Required)
        • Experience with Syntellis Performance Manager Decision Support System. (Required)
        • Experience in data analysis, report designing, development, and deployment. (Required)

        • Master's degree. (Preferred)
        • Experience with other applicable Cost Accounting systems or applications (i.e. EPSi, StrataJazz, Axiom). (Preferred)
        • Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, Datastage, Databricks, Excel, and/or PowerBI. (Preferred)


        • Demonstrated customer service skills. 
        •  Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff. 
        •  Ability to function as part of a team providing a high level of quality service to clients. 
        •  Ability to troubleshoot, research and solve technically challenging problems. 
        •  Meet deadlines and is responsive to requests. 
        •  Ability to balance priorities and work on multiple projects at once.
        •  Effectively manages and efficiently uses all resources. 
        •  Ability to work independently. 
        • Ability to discuss data in a clear manner. 
        • Demonstrated ability to conduct data entry, validate data, look for data anomalies, and provide solutions for improving data integrity.
