Claims Representative CBO

Department: Physician Billing Office

This position can be worked remotely from anywhere within the tri-state area.

Job Summary:

In accordance with PBO guidelines, follows up on accounts receivable for designated payers in an effort to expedite payment and ensure maximum reimbursement. 

    Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for verifying patient coverage information and updating patient coverage records in Epic through working the assigned work queues.
    • Prepares and submits claims to carriers and intermediarie: assures attachments are submitted in accordance with contractual requirements and departmental policy.
    • Develops and maintains knowledge of billing requirements of third-party insurance carriers to ensure accurate claim submission.
    • Maintains certification to use all applicable functions in the Epic Billing System, specifically those related to Claims and Registration.
    • Effectively utilize all electronic tools available to verify insurance information and resolve incorrect claims. (Hdx, Navinet, etc.)
    • Meets and strives to exceed the productivity measurements as set forth by the PBO senior leadership.
    • Complies with the standards set forth in the payers in a timely and professional manner.
    • Acquires and maintains a working knowledge of how to optimize use of the Epic System.

      Education and Experience:

      • High School Diploma or GED (Required).
      • 1+ year of Accounts Receivable experience (Preferred), preferably in a physician practice, hospital, or medical facility.
      • Experience working with third party payers (Required).

      Skill Requirements:

      • Proficiency in using a computer and familiarity with computer applications (Required).
      • Experience using Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook (Preferred).
      • Knowledge of computerized billing systems, such as Epic, (Preferred).
