Working for this leading academic medical center means collaboration with top clinical, technical and business professionals across all disciplines.Penn Medicine is seeking a full-time, temporary, HSPAL pharmacy resident at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP).
JOB SUMMARY:
Pharmacy residents are pharmacists with specific requirements in order to broaden their own knowledge through various learning experiences/rotations, research, projects, etc. Residents will work in the pharmacy department for a year following regulations from ASHP, JCAHO, etc.
Accountabilities:
• Complete required rotations outlined in the residency handbook. Rotations will be completed by working under the supervision and direction of pharmacy preceptors in the department.
• Provides patient care through creating monitoring plans for patient’s medication therapy, rounding on interdisciplinary teams, insuring medication adherence, evaluating their medications therapy, assessing home medication regimens, etc.
• Performs all activities necessary as a licensed pharmacist including but not limited to: dispensing, preparing, compounding, and verifying physician’s orders. Residents will need to be able to prepare sterile IV compounds.
• Assist in the recruitment process for the next year’s class of residents.
• Precept pharmacy students as needed throughout the year in conjunction with the preceptor.
• Follows department policy on items such as the IV room, pharmacy consultation, etc.
• Complete the mandatory items outlined in the current version of the residency handbook.
• Completes necessary training and in-services per hospital and department policy
• Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures
• Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization
Education/Licensure/Certifications:
-Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy (required)
-PA pharmacist license within 90 days of hire (required)
