Summary:
The CT Technologist provides technical services and coverage for the Cat scan department, performing all ordered scans on both the 4 slice and 64 slice CT machines, and administering contrast when ordered, by approved protocol
Responsibilities:
1.Performs all Ct studies listed in the order master, for CT: The employee is familiar with the protocols, procedures and techniques for each and every CT study done at Penn-Presbyterian.
2. Performs contrast as well as non-contrast studies, as ordered.
3. When required, performs IV starts, according to Hospital procedure, with skill and minimal patient discomfort. Determines patency of IV placement, before initiating power injector contrast.
4. Administers oral and/ or IV Contrast as per Departmental Protocol, or as directed by written Physician order.
5. Completes all screening forms and Med reconciliation documents, submits these to Pharmacy for review, before contrast administration.
6. Operates CT equipment according to procedure, and always makes patient safety a first priority.
5. Practices proper radiation protection techniques, by wearing radiation badge at all times, body apron and thyroid shield, when necessary, shields patient
Minimum Certifications
Registry and/or Licenses Required: Must receive AART Certification within one year of hire.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
Degree Requirements and Minimum Experience Required: A Graduate of an AART approved school of Radiographic Technology and a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a healthcare environment with direct patient contact required.
