Summary:
- The Senior Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining our cloud-based clusters and container orchestration platforms. You will develop, optimize, and maintain data infrastructure in support of our data platform team's efforts to generate data-driven insights. The Senior Cloud Engineer is a member of a team, working with Azure and Databricks, and reports to the Manager of Cloud Platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Cluster and Container Management & Optimization: Design, deploy, configure, and maintain cloud-based clusters. Continuously monitor and tune cluster and container performance for cost, efficiency, scalability, and resource utilization to meet operational requirements. Assess resource requirements, plan for growth, and recommend cluster scaling strategies.
- Automation: Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline provisioning, scaling, and maintenance tasks.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure environments are secure, compliant with industry and organizational regulations, and follow best practices for access control and data protection.
- Troubleshooting: Act as a point of contact for resolving cluster and container-related issues, providing rapid diagnosis and resolution.
- Monitoring and Alerts: Implement monitoring and alerting solutions to proactively detect and address cluster performance and health issues.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation related to configurations, procedures, and incident responses.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with development, operations, and infrastructure teams to define cluster requirements and deliver integrated solutions that meet organizational needs. Help drive stakeholders toward principled decisions, even when ownership is unclear.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in cloud engineering. Look for opportunities to optimize processes and workflows. Implement best practices and standards.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- Bachelor of Arts or Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Required)
- And 4+ years Experience as a Cloud Engineer or in a similar role, with a focus on cluster management and container orchestration.
