Summary:

The Manager of Health Care Innovation in Health Justice Transformation (HJT) is a unique opportunity to help advance the work of the newly launched Penn Medicine Center for Health Justice (CHJ), whose vision is to achieve health through racial, economic, and environmental justice for Black, Brown, and all people and neighborhoods harmed by structural inequities. CHJ sits within the Center for Health Care Transformation and Innovation (CHTI) and has two focus areas – transformation of health systems operations (Health Justice Transformation) and rigorous research and community action (Urban Health Lab).

The Innovation Manager is responsible for designing and executing Innovation Center projects from contextual research through rapid experimentation and implementation. This position requires a high degree of sophistication, resourcefulness, creativity and the ability to lead by influencing others at all levels across the organization. The Innovation Manager must have the ability to make key decisions and perform analyses, which will impact project success and completion. The Penn Medicine Center for Health Care Innovation facilitates the rapid, disciplined development, testing and implementation of new strategies to reimagine health care delivery, improve patient outcomes, patient and clinician experience, and reduce the cost of care. We believe the best way to make big improvements to patient health and health care delivery is to experiment quickly at low cost, only scaling once we find high impact solutions. The Center provides an exciting and fast-paced opportunity for motivated, entrepreneurial individuals to effect systemic change at Penn Medicine and across the healthcare industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Align diverse stakeholders across Penn Medicine on objectives and approaches to complex projects
  • Lead contextual research and design experiments to quickly test assumptions and validate proposed solutions
  • Identify opportunities for continuous development and improvement of our team, methods, interactions and project selection and execution
  • Lead efforts to improve team culture and/or performance based on identified areas for improvement
  • Evaluate the clinical and financial outcomes of projects to derive key learnings
  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures 
  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

    Education or Equivalent Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree. (Required)
    • 3+ years of experience working in health care or a related field, or innovation-related experience. (Required)
