Penn Medicine's Division of Hematology/Oncology is one of the largest hematology/oncology groups in the country. We are recognized nationally and internationally for our excellence in patient care, research and training. Our physicians, advanced practice providers, and nurses care for patients with all types of cancer and benign blood-related disorders, from the most common to the most complex, seeing more than 175,000 outpatient visits annually. The Hematology-Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) will function as part of a dynamic team in providing care to cancer patients within the Hematology-Oncology Division at the Abramson Cancer Center. The APP will provide care to patients both independently and in collaboration with physicians within the division, coordinate multi-specialty care, and provide patient/family education and support throughout a cancer diagnosis. The Hematology-Oncology APP will work closely with physicians, nursing staff and other members of the cancer center care team; the APP will perform histories, physical exams, and procedures in accordance with credentialing, and provide complex oncology care and patient/family education. The APP will also participate in research as appropriate, ensure regulatory compliance, document care according to standards, and prescribe therapeutic interventions in accordance with the collaborative/supervisory agreement and state regulations.The Advanced Practice Provider is responsible to promote organizational values of patient and visitor satisfaction by demonstrating courtesy and respect for all their families, visitors, and other employees. Cares for patients in all age groups from young adults through geriatrics. Demonstrates competence in the assessment, treatment, and care of patients served. Oncology experience strongly preferred.

All CRNPs and PA-Cs function under the guidelines as designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The CRNP will be held accountable through a formal job description, delineation of privileges, and through their agreement with their collaborating physician and a Collaborative Practice Agreement. The PA-C will be held accountable through a formal job description, delineation of privileges, and through their agreement with their supervising physician and a Written Agreement All clinical work hours and associated requirements will be defined and managed under the direction of the collaborating physician/division designee, and within the Human Resource guidelines.
