Working for this leading academic medical center means collaboration with top clinical, technical and business professionals across all disciplines. The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is looking for a Certified Nurse Midwife or Women's Health Nurse Practitioner for a part time position in the Perinatal Eval Center @ HUP
Penn Medicine is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife or Nurse Practitioner who is dedicated to diversity, population health, and care of our patients in both the Perinatal Evaluation Center (which is our emergency room for pregnant and postpartum patients). Experience with resident training and education is a plus. We are a multidiscipline group of OB/GYN, Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians, Neonatologists, Midwives, and Residents coming together to optimize patient care.
The PEC serves as the OB triage unit, HUP's ED for pregnant women greater than 16 weeks gestation. It houses 10 triage beds, and an ultrasound evaluation area and is adjacent to HUPs Labor and Delivery suite. The PEC is one of the initial contact areas for patients with obstetric related concerns. It is staffed with nurses, both NPs, CNMs and RNs who work together to triage and care for each patient, collaborating with the physicians to develop an individual plan of care. While the PEC and Labor and Delivery are distinct units, we function as one cohesive unit that works together to insure quality care to our patients. Each person is an integral part of a TEAM that includes physicians, nurses, surgical technicians, and support staff. With a team approach we are better able to provide this quality care to our population.
The Advanced Practice Nurse will report to the Perinatal Nurse Manager who will be responsible for the administrative oversight of the position as it pertains to the Department of Labor and Delivery, as well as, implementation/oversight of selected hospital CEQI indicators that are chosen for each clinical department. The Human Resource issues relating to daily job performance will be the responsibility of the Perinatal Nurse Manager. In addition, the collaborating physician will be an OB/GYN attending or laborist who will be responsible for direct oversight of the clinical role and lead orientation to the clinical unit and ongoing assessment of the clinical skills. The identified collaborating physician will evaluate the Advanced Practice Nurses’ clinical skills and competence as part of their annual performance review.
